Ecocity Builders

Ecocity Builders is looking to expand our Board of Directors with a new member who brings expertise in fundraising and donor development as well as a passion for reshaping cities in alignment with the long-term health of human and natural systems.

We are a small but internationally renowned nonprofit with a long track record of developing and implementing policy, design and educational tools and strategies to build thriving urban centers based on "access by proximity" and to reverse patterns of sprawl and excessive consumption.

As a UN-accredited NGO, the impact of our bottom-up, participatory educational and technological methods and tools to directly engage citizens in the transformation towards more equitable and sustainable conditions in their own neighborhoods has been widespread and lasting in cities across the world.

Unique among existing urban standards, our International Ecocity Standards take into account "whole-systems," as well as "end-point" indicators, bioregional indicators, access to basic human needs, and social equity and justice.

Our International Ecocity Conference Series - held since 1990 on every continent except Antarctica and featuring Al Gore as keynote speaker at the 2017 event in Melbourne - is the longest running one on the subject.

In addition to a strong track record in the development field, our ideal candidate would bring a fresh, diverse, and technologically savvy voice to our board and value a collegial and productive working relationship with an international set of board colleagues.
