LWA Programs

Calling all animal lovers! The San Diego Museum of Man has invited an array of community partners to share their work with our visitors through live animal demonstrations! Honey bees, turtles, service dogs, and birds of prey... they’re all coming to the museum, and we need volunteers to make their experience - and that of our visitors - as comfortable and fun as possible.

Tasks include the following:

  • Assisting the community presenters with setup, introductions, and close down
  • Mingling with Living with Animals gallery visitors to invite them to the program
  • Serve as day-of point of contact for presenter and staff

Programs will feature live animals, and volunteers may or may not come into contact with them depending on the program. We ask volunteers to be mindful of their own health restrictions (e.g. animal allergies) before signing up for shifts. Shift durations vary depending on each program, but are typically between two to four hours and are usually on weekends, holidays, and summer hours.
