Mission Statement
Adelante, The Latino Resource Center is a Latino non-profit organization whose mission is to empower Latinos and the community at-large through supportive services, education and advocacy for children and families.
Description
Adelante began in 1995 when a small group of individuals working within a drug rehabilitation center in Toledo, Ohio recognized that very few resources were being offered for Latino individuals in the community. With the help of local officials, this small group of individuals founded Adelante as a drug rehabilitation and prevention center focused on serving Latinos in Northwest Ohio.
During Adelante’s formative years, it was realized that there was a lack of culturally-sensitive services available to address other critical issues impacting the Latino community such as domestic violence, school readiness, low academic performance, and lack of financial literacy. Additionally, there were language and cultural barriers to access resources that addressed educational, economic, health and human rights disparities. Adelante began to concentrate on developing capacity and services to address these issues and improve the quality of life for the Latino community.
Over the years, Adelante has become a well-established organization building partnerships to implement and enhance our services. Our strong community presence, bi-lingual staff, and culturally-sensitive services has built a trusted relationship with the Latino community as well as with the entire community to serve all low-to-moderate (LMI) income individuals who need our services.
