Minnesota Hospice is a partner of the We Honor Veterans (WHV) program. We Honor Veterans is a National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) initiative in collaboration with the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). We are committed to WHV’s mission of respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment of the veterans we serve. By partnering with the VA, veteran service organizations and other community partners, we are able to provide an array of specialized programs and services that honor and support our veterans.

Veterans have unique medical, social, spiritual and emotional needs. Our care focuses on understanding and helping each veteran meet his or her personal goals by providing a variety of choices. This care is delivered by an interdisciplinary team, and a team of volunteers to ensure we honor the needs and wishes of every volunteer we serve.

Veteran to Veteran Volunteers are needed to serve hospice veterans residing in Scott County. Veteran Volunteers will serve as a friendly visitor. During your visit you might: read the newspaper, look through family photo albums, remininse, play a game of cards, go for a walk, even sit in silence and be comforting presence. If necessary, light housekeeping such as dishes and vacuuming might be an option as well. These services will take place where the patient resides. This could be in their home, Assisted Living, or Nursing Home.

At Minnesota Hospice, we take great pride in our Volunteers. When you volunteer with us, you become party of our family. We will ensure that you receive proper orientation and training. We screen every volunteer and patient to ensure we make the best match!

We offer our services in many different areas and will match you with patients in your desired service area. Service area includes the following counties: Rice, Le Sueur, Dakota, Scott, Southern Carver and Southern Hennepin.
