Business Impact NW (BIN) is one of the leading non-profit community development financial and business assistance organizations in the Pacific Northwest. The mission of BIN is to promote the economic development of marginalized communities by offering access to capital, training and support to help small businesses grow and thrive.
BIN is currently looking for volunteers to collaborate with all levels of BIN staff and assist with real projects that help us grow. We offer a dynamic work environment for interns who crave learning new skills and aren't afraid to tackle big challenges. Interns will gain a wide breadth of experience with community development finance and operations. This includes exposure to a variety of federal and nonfederal lending requirements, and basic credit & financial analyses.
Available Projects Include:
1. Follow-up with clients to gather survey information and request financial information (loan clients only)
Skills Needed: Communication, general business
Number Needed: 2-4 volunteers
2. Create marketing strategy for upcoming new classes as well as ongoing programs; such as Grocery Store Curriculum, Launch and Grow, etc.
Skills Needed: Marketing, social media, communications
Number Needed: 1 volunteer
3. Create binders for tracking ongoing compliance with SBA 7a lending
Skills Needed: Finance, general business, legal
Number Needed: 2 volunteer
4. Update loan procedure manual to reflect current practices
Skills Needed: Communication, general business, finance (would be helpful due to subject matter)
Number Needed: 1 volunteer
5. Implement new equipment asset tracking system
Skills Needed: General business, accounting
Number Needed: 1 volunteer
6. Create customer satisfaction survey
Skills Needed: General business, communications
Number Needed: 1 volunteer
All volunteer work is unpaid and will take place in BIN’s Seattle International District office. Schedules need to be fairly consistent on a weekly basis with a minimum time commitment of 5 hours/week

Description
At Business Impact NW, we provide comprehensive assistance in three ways:
- Technical Assistance- our trained counselors help small businesses with all aspects of starting and running a small business, including marketing, management, finance and strategic planning. We also help clients with their business plans, cash flow projections and loan applications.
- Training- our training programs are designed specifically for entrepreneurs.
- Loans - we offer financing to qualified small businesses and start-ups through our small business loan program.
