About

Do others describe you as friendly and approachable? Do you like interacting with people, especially children? Can you express yourself with your body movements without speaking? The Marketing and Programming team of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County seeks volunteers to serve as Mascot Volunteers for the characters of Rufus the Library Reading Dog and Red Card. Mascot Volunteers help promote the love of the Public Library by visiting with people at different events and places in Hamilton County. This is a fun and easy way for you to volunteer!

Responsibilities: Wear the mascot costume in its entirety; Meet & Greet with the public, especially for children and families; Serve as a good will ambassador for the Public Library; Provide own transportation to and from events

Necessary skills and qualifications: Ability to not speak even when cajoled by children and others; ability to express emotions through physical movement; enjoys working around children; enjoys being silly and spontaneous; must be friendly and approachable; must have reasonable strength and stamina due to weight and warmth of suit; ability to work with others
