SOCIAL MEDIA AND MARKETING INTERN
We are seeking an intern to help manage our social media accounts and assist with our marketing efforts, primarily for our Women's Leadership Circle program.
Social media management includes creating and scheduling content for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Pinterest, as well as creating custom images and graphics for social media and other marketing.
Other tasks include researching and contacting groups for speaking opportunities for the Executive Director, proof-reading and updating evergreen and trending blog content, formatting and scheduling newsletters, and creating and editing custom flyers and forms, and other items as assigned.
This position is mostly virtual; however, responsibilities also include attending our workshops and events once or twice a month for photo and video recording, live tweeting, assisting in checking in participants, collecting forms, etc. Most events may occur during evening and weekend hours.
This position is part-time, between 5-10 hours a week. Must be local to the Washington, DC area.
ABOUT THE WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP CIRCLE:
This initiative is aimed at supporting women by providing an immersive and intensive exploration of self-awareness and transformative leadership. This program welcomes women from all walks of life who want to change the trajectory of their lives and careers.
Our workshops are faciliated by myself and other dynamic women in various fields. Plus, we offer a variety of unique and fun social and networking opportunities, including virtual events, that are designed to stimulate conversation and build genuine connections.
SKILLS NEEDED:
* Familiarity with social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Hootsuite, etc.)
* Experience with basic graphic design preferred (Canva, Photoshop, etc.)
* Experience with WordPress
* Strong knowledge of Google G Suite including Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms
* Good grammar
* Writing/blogging experience preferred
* Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow
* Ability to be proactive, resourceful, and positive

Description
The Mercedes Parra Foundation (MPF), named in the honor of Mercedes Maria Parra Forbes, was established in 2010.
The foundation provides programs and services aimed at ensuring gender equity by promoting sustainable social development through training, consultancy, and direct support of individual women, groups and organizations.
MPF’s work targets five dimensions of female empowerment and opportunity:
- economic participation,
- economic opportunity,
- political empowerment,
- educational attainment,
- and health and well-being.
The foundation has three major initiatives:
- Agrofem, supporting female agriculturalists in developing countries to transition from subsistence to market-oriented farming by providing grants and interest-free loans, capacity building, and technical assistance;
- the Micro Grant Program which awards small grants to help support the humanitarian efforts of women;
- and Operation Santa Clau, providing clothes, books, and toys to families in need on the Island of San Andres, Colombia.
