Popular public radio show about language and how we use it A Way with Wordsseeks volunteer support for fundraising, grant writing, and event planning. We are a small, passionate team of word nerds dedicated to a mission of building better understanding through language.
Wayword, Inc. has developed an ambitious fundraising plan that includes cultivating major donors, holding a series of fun events including our tenth anniversary celebration in October 2017, and building relationships with corporate and foundation supporters.
We will tailor the position to the applicant, but examples of tasks include:
* events: event staffing, planning, and follow-up
* research: major donors, grant opportunities, speaking engagement venues, etc.
* administration: database maintenance, gift recognition
Our ideal candidate will have an interest and experience in nonprofit fundraising, commitment to our mission, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The volunteers will be supervised by an experienced nonprofit consultant who will provide training and professional development.

Description
A Way with Words is an upbeat and lively hour-long public radio show about language examined through history, culture, and family. Co-hosts Martha Barnette and Grant Barrett talk with callers from around the world about slang, grammar, old sayings, word origins, regional dialects, family expressions, and speaking and writing well. They settle disputes, play word quizzes, and discuss language news and controversies. The show is heard by more than a quarter-million listeners each week over the air and by podcast.
A Way with Words is independently produced by a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization.
