Education Matters in partnership with Lower Price Hill Santa Maria Youth Program seeks individuals to serve as Mentors for their summer sports league. The LPH Summer Sports League is an opportunity for neighborhood children to explore and stretch their athletic capabilities while forming positive relationships with peers and trusted adults. The program will be located at Evans Park in Lower Price Hill.
Mentors would be expected to commit no less than 10 hours per week between the months of April and October, 2017. Mentors are matched with children participating in the LPH Summer Sports League to serve as friend, advocate and cheerleader; attending all formal games and at least one practice per week to ensure the athlete is supported by a trusted adult. Knowledge of sport or coaching ability is not required to serve as a mentor. Mentors are encouraged to organize activities for their groups beyond the scheduled practices and games to foster positive relationships between players and provide constructive activities for the summer time.More opportunities with Education Matters
