ORGANIZATION: Aging and Disability Services

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 1 person is interested

A local fellow who is legally blind needs to travel from Middletown to Hartford for specialized therapy at the Hartford Hospital medical complex and he is interested in a volunteer driver (will pay a stipend) for trips from his location in Middletown. He is available for these trips based on your schedule and availability and the appointments at the facility, but probably in the afternoon. Don't worry about taking on too much, we are looking for more than one person and you are only expected to do what you promise, others will help. A small stipend is available for gas and parking - 2 hours every other week would be great.

Requirements to be a great volunteer include:

  • a desire to help others;

  • a pleasant demeanor;

  • a good reading/speaking voice;

  • average reading skills;

  • organizational or planning abilities;

  • a good driving record;

  • a clear criminal history;

  • two references

  • access to a car with proof of insurance;

  • a minimum of $50/100k liability and $5,000 of property damage coverage.
