Lend your expertise and experience to the marketing and development teams by volunteering to help with Outreach and Fundraising. Volunteers can assist with a number of projects including: outreach events in the community, in-kind donation solicitations for programs and events, peer-to-peer fundraising, and grant research.
Accokeek Ambassador volunteers will be interviewed prior to beginning their volunteer service. Ambassador volunteers will be trained in best practices for representing the Foundation in the community, and volunteers participating in outreach will need to attend several outreach events with a staff member before being able to attend one alone.

Mission Statement
According to the Foundation's 1957 charter, "It shall be the purpose of this Corporation to preserve, protect and foster, for scientific, educational or charitable use and study for the benefit of the people of the nation, the historical sites and relics, trees, plants, and wildlife rapidly disappearing from an area of great natural beauty along the Maryland shore of the historic Potomac River."
Description
In partnership with the National Park Service, the Accokeek Foundation stewards 200 acres of Piscataway Park. Situated directly across the Potomac River from George Washington’s Mount Vernon, this land was protected to preserve historic views and now serves as an outdoor classroom for educational programs about land conservation, historic preservation, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship. Entertaining tours and performances, customized experience based activities, and service learning opportunities help visitors connect to the land and to one another.
