Everything But the Kitchen Sink: Wednesday & Thursday Mornings

The Wednesday and Thursday Farmhands volunteer shifts will incorporate all aspects of the agriculture program and National Food Forest project at the Accokeek Foundation. Volunteers will help with crop and livestock care, in addition to infrastructure projects like building new pasture areas and removing invasisves from cultivated spaces. These shifts are open to large volunteer groups.

Livestock Only: Saturday mornings

The Saturday Farmhands shift will focus on the barnyard. The main volunteer duty will be halter training and socializing new calves and lambs, but responsibilities may also include feeding and helping keep the barn clean. Max. capacity of 10 volunteers/shift.

Farmhands volunteers should be comfortable working around large animals, and willing to work in a variety of weather conditions. They will be trained in animal handling, so no previous experience in agriculture is necessary.
