About

Cornerstone Montgomery is looking for welcoming, engaging community members who have a professional background in the financial services industry to serve as
Financial Literacy Coaches to our clients learning financial literacy. The ideal candidate would need to commit to either instructing a class of clients or assisting with 1 on 1 tutoring of clients from a class taught by staff members for the entire 9 weeks the class is conducted. Volunteers would be provided with the curriculum as well as training and orientation to Cornerstone Montgomery. The curriculum covers basic financial knowledge that is applicable to our client’s goals of living independently while in recovery.

Some topics covered are:

-The difference between earned and unearned income

- How SSI payments change if you become a wage earner

- Understanding their entitlements and learning how to calculate their changes

- Understanding how the importance of saving money

This oppurtunity is new as we are expanding the current program. We are able to accomadate almost any schedule but we ask that the volunteer candidates commit to conducting all 9 classes within an 11 week program.
