Make a house a home for a newly arrived refugee family. The week before a family arrives USCRI needs help putting together household items from the donation room. Home set-ups are week days from 9am to 12pm. Volunteers are responsible for cleaning the apartment, moving and setting up furniture and putting household items away. Welcome Team members must be able to lift 25 lbs. It is helpful to have a truck or van to help move furniture and to bring cleaning supplies and tools. Most home set-ups take place on the west side of Cleveland.

Description
The U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) is a national, nonprofit, non-governmental, nonsectarian, nonpartisan refugee resettlement and advocacy organization. We advance the rights and lives of those who have been forcibly or voluntarily uprooted. For over 100 years, the unwavering commitment of our leadership, team, network of service providers, and advocates has helped redirect the destiny of countless vulnerable lives. Established in 1916, USCRI Cleveland has served refugees and immigrants for 100 years. In the neighborhoods across Cleveland, Ohio, we open doors for uprooted people, helping the world’s most vulnerable rebuild their lives. We are part of a nationwide network that breaks through social, cultural, and economic barriers so previously interrupted lives can flourish. The first welcome begins with navigating American culture, laying solid foundations for a fresh start, and making essential community connections to successfully integrate into our community.
