We are in need of assistance with event planning for two summer events to benefit the Frosty Drew Memorial Fund. Our annual 5k race will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, and we seek volunteers to help plan the event as well as volunteers for the day of the event. Planning: assistance with PR and promotions to bring in sponsors and participants for our 5k. Day of event: trail guides and water station attendants. Also in need of one first aid/CPR certified person to be "on call" at the race.
The second event will be a summer "gala" to be held on Saturday, August 12th from 6-9pm. We seek volunteers to assist with planning this event, including finding good items for silent and live auction. This event will be part of a special weekend star-gazing event for the annual Perseid Meteor Shower, with attendees at the gala being invited to stay for the viewing of the meteor shower.

Mission Statement
Frosty Drew Memorial Fund, Inc: Enlighten, discover, inspire- through education and research- knowledge about science, the night sky, and the universe.
Description
Frosty Drew Observatory and Science Center is Southern New England's gateway to the Milky Way! We are located at one of the darkest sites in Southern New England where thousands of stars are visible overhead.
Frosty Drew, our namesake, was interested in a wide range of ecological and conservation activities, particularly along Rhode Island's beautiful shores. As a child, Frosty contracted polio, weakening him through life and contributing to his death at the age of 28.
Our programs focus on education of both children and adults:
1) Weekly Stargazing Nights events
2) Themed events focused on meteor showers, observing the Milky Way, and other celestial events.
3) School field trips focusing on astronomy, conservation, astrophysics, and the night sky.
4) BSA scouting field trips focused on astronomy badge achievement.
