Saturday Academy Special Events Volunteer-Intel Kids Day

Position Summary: We are looking for volunteers to help with a special event at Intel Kids Day. Volunteers would help Saturday Academy staff facilitate STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) activities at the Intel Kids Day at Intel. There will be a planning day on April 29 th from 10a.m.-noon and then the Intel Kids Day will be on June 28 th, we can work with you to find a shift that best fits your schedule on this particular day.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee hands-on activities at Intel Kids Day
  • Help create the hands on activity prior to the event on April 29 th at Saturday Academy’s main office at the University of Portland
  • Agree to commit to planning day and day of event

Qualifications:

  • Able to attend the planning day and the event day at Intel
  • Positive attitude
  • Passion for inspiring students
  • Must be 16 years of age

Description

The mission of Saturday Academy is to engage children through in-depth learning so they may become life-long learners. We provide hands-on classes and camps, afterschool programs, accelerated learning programs for talented and gifted students, and a high school apprenticeship program in science and engineering (ASE). Since it was founded in 1983, SA has served over 165,000 students and currently serves approximately 6,000 students each year. SA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization affiliated with the University of Portland (UP). Instructors need to be experts in their fields so that children see adults as guides to learning and careers.
