A client choice pantry is very similar to a grocery store.
Unlike most pantries, which provide clients with fixed boxes or bags of food with no ability to select the items included, the Mercado Food Hub allows clients the ability to choose what they take home from a wide variety of foods.
This shopping model supports personal dietary needs and allows the shopper to receive the foods that they want and need.
Volunteers needed to for a variety of tasks including assist with clients and stocking the shelves.
Volunteers are welcome to come once or weekly!

Description
For more than 40 years, Gleaners Community Food Bank has been "feeding hungry people and nourishing our communities." Last year, Gleaners distributed 42 million pounds of emergency food to 499 partner soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, and Monroe counties.
Of every dollar donated, Gleaners uses 97 cents for food and food programs. One dollar provides three meals for a hungry neighbor.
