The Chico Area Recreation & Park Distrcit has partnered with the San Francisco Giants to offer a FREE summer baseball program. Junior Giants is a free, non-competitive and coed baseball program for youth ages 5-13. Working together with local agencies, families and volunteers, Junior Giants reaches into communities and offers youth a chance to learn the basics of baseball during the summer while also discovering the importance of essential life skills.
We are currently searching for Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Team Parents.
Head and Asistant Coaches: The most important person in the organization! They determine the kind of experience our players will have this season. We are committed to the principles of positive coaching and expect our coachces to prepared thier players to perform to their maximum potential, and most importantly, we want them to be a role model and teach life lessons. The San Francisco Giants Community Fund provides professional training for anyone who may be lacking in the baseball knowledge, but has a passion for positvely impacting the youth of our community.Head coaches get to choose their teams practice day and location (must be after 5:30pm).
Team Parents: Team parents work with the coach to help coordinate the programs that extend beyond baseball. Team parents focus on instilling the Four Bases of Character Development as well as programs in Education, Heath, and Bullying Prevention. No baseball or coaching experience necessary- but must be organized!
