ORGANIZATION: The World is Fun

  • 9 people are interested

The Ronald McDonald House in Seattle provides more than 28,000 nights of housing a year for families with children receiving treatment at Seattle Children's Hospital. When a child is seriously ill, families’ lives are turned upside down. Life is put on hold; soccer games and ballet lessons take a back seat.

Join us at TWIF HQ as we assemble welcome kits for families arriving at the Ronald McDonald House that contain a few essential supplies that will allow families staying at the house to focus on the health of their child.

This event is dedicated to the memory of Michele Messler who lost her battle to cancer in March of 2017.

Our Nonprofit Partner that this event supports: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington & Alaska

Why you are needed: Nothing is more important than healing the sick child. Many families travel hundreds of miles and spend weeks or months getting treatment - a long time to be away from home. The Ronald McDonald House in Seattle is a "home-away-from-home" for families while their child undergoes treatment at Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Age Requirement: 21+

Mission Statement

The World is Fun (TWIF) is dedicated to making volunteering fun & social for Seattle people, businesses & nonprofits by creating, promoting and expanding charitable events.

Description

We’re not your grandparents’ charitable club. We’re a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization here to make volunteering a fun and social experience for Seattle people, businesses, and nonprofits. We seek to banish the ol’ bake sale stereotype and get you excited about giving back to your community by broadening the scope of volunteerism and revamping existing charitable programs. Our mission is to remind you that volunteering is not a chore - it makes the world fun!

TWIF works within Seattle communities to create new opportunities for people to give back in a way that is social and philanthropic. We connect people to volunteer activities that fit each individual’s interests, passions, and busy schedules while introducing them to a new network of friends.
