Make a difference this year! Become a teacher in our summer school for refugee children. This is a wonderful opportunity if you’re building your education resume.
Our Summer School program is for elementary school students and goes from July 8th-August 15th. Classes meet Monday-Thursday from 1pm-4pm. They take place in inner SE Portland.
If this sounds like an exciting opportunity to you, then please join us. We would love to have you on board, and we will gladly give you a letter of recommendation to include in your resume package.
As a teacher you are responsible for planning and executing daily lessons. The goal is to prevent the "summer slide" but also give the kids something fun to do! The lessons are up to you so you can get creative!
We are looking for one or two head teachers and two assistant teachers with some form of teaching experience, former teachers, current teachers, and education majors. This is a great opportunity to gain experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations; refugees, immigrants, and people of color living in low-income housing communities.
The first day of class is July 8th, but plan on starting two weeks before for an orientation and meeting with the summer school coordinator and other teachers. Class is Monday-Thursday from 1:00-4:00pm. The last day is August 15th.
