We will be training 3 athletes each Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for 6 weeks and need at least 2 volunteers per athlete to safely run the training program. This is a huge undertaking and we need a lot of help. If you would like to help our athletes experience the excitement of competition, please email Julie@greatstridesli.org
Equestrian background is not necessary. Must be at least 12 years old and be able to walk and jog over a half-hour time frame.

Mission Statement
Great Strides is dedicated to offering programs that offer the unique benefits of equine-assisted activities to special needs people of all ages. We understand the power of the horse/human relationship and how beneficial it can be to the human body and soul and are devoted to sharing those benefits with children, adults and veterans of ALL abilities.
Description
Great Strides Long Island, Inc. was founded by a group of people who have seen and experienced how horseback riding and other equine-assisted activities can help individuals with special challenges overcome those challenges and develop confidence as well as physical and emotional strength. As riders themselves, they understand the power of the horse/human relationship and how beneficial it can be to the human body and soul. Our equine friends can help us face all of life’s challenges with strength and confidence.
Our members commit their time and energy to provide riding lessons and other equine programs, scholarships, equipment, horses and even physical assistance so that more members of our community can experience a healthy physical and developmentally enriching equine experience, regardless of their challenges.
