Legal Research (Virtual/Remote)

We are seeking the assistance of an attorney, law student or experienced paralegal to assist with legal research and to support our projects with law firms that are assisting us.

Background

Over the past 12 years Medwiser has worked with pro bono attorneys at some of the nations most prestigious law firms (Baker & Mckenzie, Skadden and Sherman Sterling to name a few) on matters related to contracts, employment, intellectual property, negotiation, privacy, and other areas. We continue to work with large law firms on several projects but also conduct other research internally both independent from larger projects and to support these collaborations.

Location

Depending on the volunteering opportunity, some or all of the volunteering may be done remotely with communication via email and phone rather than in-person.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct legal research
• Review, edit and/or draft contracts.
• Provide advice to support routine contractual and legal issues
• Review and research best practices
  
• Research, analyze and summarize statutes, regulations and legal articles
• Particpate in meetings with attorneys at several law firms

Skills and Experience:

• Law student, JD or Paralegal with 3+ years experience.
• Outstanding written communication skills, including accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
• Clear, concise, and comprehensive interpersonal communications; active listening skills; and understanding of business issues and challenges
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (especially MS Word and Excel)
