Volunteer Title: Job Coach

Summary: Epilepsy Foundation New England's (EFNE) Employment Services is seeking Job Coaches. There are several Job Coach positions available. The Job Coach will take on the role of supporting his/her mentee for a preset period, that coincides with the mentee's participation in training and development workshops at EFNE. Workshops range from 8-12 weeks long, depending on the session.

In additional to Job Coach Training and orientation, the Job Coach will get to know his/her mentee in an in-person, or phone meeting. After the initial meeting, the Job Coach will connect with the mentee weekly, for the purpose of checking in on training progress; setting accountability expectations and following up on session assignments. If the Job Coach and mentee develop a strong bond throughout the session and wish to continue working together, the Job Coach may continue to support his/her mentee post-session.

All Job Coaches must go through an application process, interview, short training and post-program wrap-up.

Location: Remote, with occasional in-person meetings (including training).

Time Commitment: Job Coaches must participate in Job Coach training, pre-session orientation and post-session wrap-up. Job Coaches must also commit to connecting with their mentee for at least one hour, every week throughout the session. In many cases, the Job Coach will need to initiate the weekly communication. Total anticipated hours for this project, including training, pre and post meetings and weekly calls are approximately 20 hours. Three hours (training), 2 hours (pre-session), 1 hour/week (8-12 weeks), plus 1 hour (session wrap-up).

Qualifications: Job Coaches must be great listeners, inquisitive and capable of reflecting questions or thoughts back to the mentee for him/her to evaluate. Job Coaches must maintain a consistent level of communication with his/her mentee, in order to establish trust and stability for the mentee. Job Coaches should also be able to balance supportive and direct communication styles in order to maximize program value for his/her mentee and the Job Coach must have a high comfort level supporting people with disabilities, particularly neurological challenges. Individuals who are passionate about social work, therapy, coaching and/or workforce development are particularly encouraged to support this mission. Experience with epilepsy preferred, but not required.

Support: Initial and ongoing training will be provided by the Director of Employment Services.
