Primary Purpose of Volunteer Role:
The Self Service Room staff are looking for dedicated volunteers who will complete administrative tasks that the team will not be able to complete on a daily basis but are still very critical to the clients’ well-being. The main project that is needed is to put together Managed Care and MSho packets at the Government Center for daily mailings.
Requirements:
Good communication skills
- Candidates may need to stand for up to 15 - 30 minutes at a time and must be able to lift boxes weighting up to 15 pounds
Willingness to do repetitive administrative tasks
Organization skills
Respect for confidentiality of customers
A sense of responsibility toward the position demonstrated by good attendance and punctuality
Professional appearance and behavior
Positive attitude
Respect for the multicultural nature of the customers including their dress, religious beliefs, and language
- Must be 18 years or older and pass a standard background check
Minimum once a week for a 1-3 hour shift during 9-4pm during the weekdays with a three or more month commitment to program.
Supervision:
The volunteer is supported and supervised by the on-site staff members of the Office Support Team. A Coordinator of Volunteers assists with volunteer service agreement, provides most training, and manages other volunteer program matters.

Description
The work of our Department tends to fall into three major areas:
- Increasing safety and stability of individuals and families through services such as child and adult protection, providing temporary emergency shelter, and more.
- Promoting self-reliance and a livable income through a mixture of federal and state programs, such as SNAP (food support), Child Support, Veterans' Service, cash assistance programs and more.
- Improving the health of the community through public health care programs, restaurant inspections, regulating emergency medical services, providing crisis response to behavioral health emergencies, immunization services, a public health clinic, and more.
