ORGANIZATION: Horizons for Homeless Children - West

Looking to give back or help your community grow? ADD VOLUNTEERING WITH CHILDREN IN NEED.Volunteers are needed to play with young children living in family homeless shelters throughout Western MA.

Horizons for Homeless Children is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of homeless children by providing quality play and opportunities for early education. Volunteer with homeless children at a Horizons Playspace in one of more than 120 family shelters state-wide including 3 locations in Pittsfield. A commitment of 2 hours a week for at least 6 months (students: 1 FULL semester minimum) and formal training are required. This is an unpaid opportunity to give back.

Description

To make play possible in shelter settings, our Playspace Programs build age-appropriate, kid-friendly "Playspaces," equipped with libraries, climbing structures, art supplies - tools to challenge children physically and creatively and allow them to have a place to play, use thier imaginations, and be just who they are...kids.
