COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE ~ VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES

The Communications Committee provides newsletter design and event promotion support to the other committees. This committee creates and manages the chapter’s communications strategies, tools, and resources, including the hotline, website, distribution list, surveys, photos, video and audio recordings, resource center, info graphics, benchmark data, rsvp systems, and social media.

Committee members are passionate about design, marketing, and communications. They inspire, collect, and organize members’ input; and draft, proofread, and publish messages to members.

Committee members can choose their focus from the following:

o Widely promoting both our partner organization’s events online

o Welcoming members and nonmembers to our local events

o Uploading relevant resources and news onto the chapter’s website calendar

o Collecting input and information to update the chapter’s website

o Draft and design email blasts using Mailchimp

o Research and implement better ways for tracking promotional efforts

o Work closely with the membership department to design and promote membership in the form of strategizing membership benefits, research and implement them, and communicate the value of said benefits

The above activities, when divided among several members of the Communications Committee, should require no more than 2-3 hours/month of each person’s volunteer time.

Benefits of volunteering:

o Support Social Enterprise in the Bay Area by ensuring they are aware of all of our events and offerings

o Join a large network of those with similar values, where you’ll be able to connect and receive the resources you need

o Gain further skills in communications, campaign management and social media

o Upon successful project completion, the option to request a LinkedIn recommendation from the Committee Chair
