Website Designer

Reporting to the Marketing Chair, the Website Designer will oversee and implement any and all updates to the EKARIFoundation.org website. This role will work closely with different EKARI Foundation committees, Executive Director, Communications Director, Board President and community partners in order to identify and achieve overall website goals, as well as to ensure EKARI is adequately represented online.

Responsibilities

  • Design and update website pages that accurately reflect our organization's goals, objectives and identity
  • Creates the concepts, and assists with artwork and layout for sites and other online projects based on creative briefs from Marketing Chair
  • Uses web and design software such as Adobe Creative Suite applications and WordPress
  • Familiar with web protocols such as CSS, HTML, JSP and XML
  • Understanding of web design issues, including browser usability and cross-platform compatibility
  • Design and troubleshooting
  • Attend (via phone or online) monthly or bi-monthly committee meetings

Qualifications

  • Website design and oversight experience
  • Design and troubleshooting skills required
  • Experience with aforementioned platforms and web protocols
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • A keen eye for detail
  • We have a small team consisting mainly of volunteers with only 1 to 2 paid staff members. We do offer support in the way of regular committee meetings, but we look for volunteers who take their own initiative to complete tasks.

Time Commitment
This position requires a commitment of a minimum of 5 hours per week for a minimum of one year. We offer a lot of flexibility in when and how you complete those hours and many of the tasks and responsibilities can be done remotely, working online, at a time that is convenient for you.

Compensation
This is a volunteer position. There will be no financial compensation. Our organization is 100% volunteer run, excluding staff in Malawi and our Executive Director.
