ORGANIZATION: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound

There are over 200 youth right now waiting for a Mentor just like you!

Why get involved?
It’s simple. It’s fun. Be a kid again yourself for an hour a week-and join
the millions of volunteers who say, "I get back so much more than I give."

How does it work?
You won’t be in it alone. A professional from Big Brothers Big Sisters will match you with a child with similar interests and give support as you need it. You’ll meet regularly with your "Little" at a nearby school or Boys & Girls Club to play games, eat lunch or hang out. Employees who volunteer come back to work recharged,
knowing they are making a big impact. (Community-based is also available.)

It’s easier than you think.
You don’t need experience or special training, money or a degree-you just need to be yourself and have fun. Once you’re in, you’ll spend time with your Little on a regular basis. It’s as simple as that.

Mission Statement

The Big Brothers Big Sisters Mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better.

Description

For more than 100 years nationally and 50 locally, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers ("Bigs") and children ("Littles"), ages 7 through 18, in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people .
