ORGANIZATION: Holden Arboretum

Holden Arboretum's Habitat Hut, is geared toward families with children ages 2 - 8. This playhouse, located near the prairie garden, is set among four, easy-to-access habitats: prairie, stream, bog and woods.

Volunteers will lead programs on Saturdays and/or Sundays, 10am-Noon, June - October that give families a guided experience of all the habitats and learn why we should care for them. Volunteers will also lead fun, hands-on activities. Mobility, weekend availability and willingness to complete a background check required.

Anyone who enjoys watching young children discover the wonders of nature, and would like to help support our mission of getting chidlren and families together outside is invited to apply.

No previous teaching experience required; just good communication and ability to interact well with the public. Volunteers should be able to walk up to half-mile without assistance and sit/stand to interact with young children as needed. Teen summer volunteers (16+) welcome!

Shifts are scheduled June 9 through October 28, Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and Sundays, 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. A once a week or bi-weekly commitment is preferred, or at least 10 shifts through the five month season.
