Are you looking to share your skills and positively influence others to make a difference in your community? The Center for Independent Living is looking for volunteers with excellent leadership, management, motivation, negotiation & communication skills to join our 7 th Annual Stroll 'n’ Roll Committee. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, October 21 st 2017 at Cranes Roost in Altamonte Springs. A morning filled with a 1-mile walk or roll, food, fun & celebrating disability inclusion.
- Work closely with staff partner to develop plan of action for the Stroll 'n’ Roll based on event goals
- Promote CIL’s Stroll 'n’ Roll in the community through presentations, meetings with high-level contacts and potential sponsors/donors/volunteers
- Collaborate with CIL staff to identify potential event sponsors and teams
- Identify, Follow-Up and Develop strategy to recruit new sponsors & teams from different segments of the community
- Work with Staff partner to develop outreach and awareness plan for CIL’s Stroll 'n’ Roll
- Coordinate the distribution of Stroll 'n’ Roll brochures and posters to market upcoming events
- Serve as lead volunteer at Stroll 'n’ Roll-related activities and on day of event to troubleshoot issues and manage flow of event
- Identify potential leadership volunteers to ensure growth of Stroll 'n’ Roll Committee for following year
Training and Support:
- Planning session(s) with staff partner to develop plan of action and set committee goals
- Stroll 'n’ Roll binder including information such as event goals & history, Committee roster, meeting schedules, FAQs, position description, CIL’s programs/services information
- Meetings with staff partner (via phone or in person) to address any questions or concerns and to identify areas of greatest need (minimum of weekly during event season)
Qualifications:
- Excellent leadership, management, motivation, negotiation & communication skills
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Prior project or event management experience a plus, Internet and email access
Time Commitment:
- April 2017-November 2017
- Monthly face-to-face/phone meetings between staff partner and Committee Members
- Additional time managing and coaching committee members/activities and projects and attending Stroll 'n’ Roll related events
