The Department of Conservation and Recreation's Universal Access Program (UAP) is dedicated to providing outdoor recreation opportunities in Massachusetts State Parks for visitors of all abilities. To kick off the summer, the UAP is hosting an Accessible Recreation Fair near Artesani Playground in Herter Park in Brighton on Saturday, June 3rd. This fun and rewarding event is a unique way for folks with disabilities and their families and friends to explore accessible recreation in the parks and across the state. The fair runs from 10:00am to 3:00pm, with volunteer orientation starting at 9:00am.
We're looking for people to help out with the many activities at the fair including face painting, hiking and letterboxing, adaptive cycling, and kite decorating. We could also use help with passing out refreshments, and set up and take down. Whatever your role, you’ll be helping folks have fun!
If you would like to have some fun while doing some good, please let me know which area(s) of the fair you are interested in helping with.
The meeting location will be outside at Artesani Playground/Herter Park, 1255 Soldiers Field Road in Brighton, MA. Parking is available near the public garden side of the parking lot, and the park is near the Everett St. Stop on the #86 bus line.
Thanks so much for your help and we look forward to seeing you in the parks!
