Events and Management Intern

Our organization is searching for a qualified Events and Management Intern to join our team. We work to bring lupus awareness throughout the entire state of Florida in order to improve the quality of life of all of those affected by lupus through programs of research, education, and advocacy. We hold lupus awareness events across the state and we are seeking an intern who can participate in various stages of planning, executing, and managing these events.

Responsibilities:

* Support the Director of Events and Event Coordinator in the planning and execution of special events across the state

* Work closely with mentors to successfully communicate and execute events including: Operations, Entertainment, Security, Guest Services, Parking, and external vendors

* Research new potential vendors

* Compile contact lists and create/update databases as needed

* Attend event planning meetings and provide input and new ideas

* Attend all major events at the expense of the organization

* Assist with completing and distributing event itineraries

* Assist with facilitating event logistics and tracking event budgets

* Making phone calls to walkers and Team Captains as needed

* Handling post-event walker registrations

* Assisting with the recruitment, training, and organizing of event volunteers

* Acting as the lead Volunteer Coordinator at events and handling all responsibilities relating to volunteer check-in, task delegation, station assignment, and answering questions, etc.
Majors: Event management, business management, nonprofit management, hospitality management, communications, project management, or closely related field.
