Mission Statement
"As residents and runners in Holly Springs, we have come together and have fallen in love with all that makes this town so great! What better way to share that pride than to invite other runners to run in our hometown and see all that it has to offer? - Ryan Monteleone, Race Director The inaugural Holly Springs Half Marathon is an opportu-nity to showcase the beauty of Holly Springs to the great-er Triangle running community. The half will highlight the rolling hills and landmarks of Main Street Holly Springs, including the North Main Athletic Complex that features the Holly Springs Salamanders, Womble Park and Bass Lake. The 5K route will feature the town greenway system as well as wind through Veterans Park and around the 4.3 acre pond. In partnership with the town of Holly Springs and the Kiwanis Club, proceeds from the Holly Springs Half Marathon will go to the town greenway system to improve and expand greenway access for all residents.
Description
Whether you are a seasoned runner or hoping to complete your first half marathon, you're absolutely going to love this course. It offers a little bit of everything...from fast flats to rolling hills...from open roads to greenways and trails, the Holly Springs Half Marathon will introduce runners to the best our town has to offer.
Starting from the Holly a Springs Salamanders' baseball stadium located at the brand new North Main Athletic Complex, runners will begin their journey through the quaint neighborhood of Windcrest. From there, the crowd will filter into the fast canopy-covered greenway trail running through both Jones and Veterans parks. Runners will continue downtown on Main Street by town hall before jumping back on the Womble Park trail on their way to Sugg Farm and eventually to the Bass Lake Park entrance. There will be no time to stop to feed the ducks, while you run 2 miles around Bass Lake's mulch trail before jumping back onto a fast greenway which wraps you back around to Womble Park. From there runners will take the opposite side of the loop around Womble Park, backtracking down Main Street, Veterans and Jones parks, and eventually finishing on a gentle downhill back towards the Salamanders' stadium.
