First, I would like to personally thank you for wanting to do more in providing aid and comfort to the veterans of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and their families.
Soldiers' Angels in San Antonio is currently looking for a volunteer leader to work as our representative to the VA Hospital in San Antonio.
POSITION SUMMARY
As the VA Representative, you have a responsibility to be knowledgeable about the rules, regulations, policies and programs of the VAVS program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ability to commit to volunteer 10-15 hours per week
Recruitment of volunteers.
Coordination of the volunteer resources of Soldiers’ Angels and all aspects of their participation in the VAVS program at the medical center.
Planning special events and coordinating the distribution of goods and services.
Interpretation of policies and procedures of Soldiers’ Angels to the VAVS committee and appropriate VA staff.
Annual evaluation of Soldiers’ Angels participation in the VAVS program with the leadership of Soldiers’ Angels and VA (Annual joint review scheduled with the Chief of Voluntary Services).
Establishment of procedures for keeping Soldiers’ Angels donors and supporters informed of ongoing medical center programs and needs.
REQUIRED MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications for this position include:
Willing and able to participate in the orientation provided by the Voluntary Service Office at the VA.
Physically capable of performing regularly scheduled (RS) hours of service and have a source of transportation.
Ability to attend committee meetings regularly. If Soldiers’ Angels is not represented by a Representative or Deputy Representative at three consecutive meetings, Soldiers’ Angels may be dropped from the VAVS Committee.
Ability to recruit volunteers of all ages, both from Soldiers’ Angels volunteers and the community at large.
Ability to work effectively with Soldiers’ Angels’ volunteers and representatives from other organizations on the VAVS committee and with the VA staff.
A genuine desire to serve on the VAVS committee and a full realization of the responsibility associated with that and the work to be done.

Description
Soldiers' Angels HQ located in San Antonio, Texas supports the South Texas Veterans Affairs Healthcare System which encompasses the greater San Antonio metropolitan area and Kerrville.
Soldiers' Angels has many wonderful programs to support our military families, deployed service members, wounded service members and veterans. Our programs are broken into categories based on the population they serve. Soldiers' Angels offers programs for wounded, deployed, families, and others. Most of our programs could not be possible without the support of the wonderful Angels who dedicate their time, money and talents, to the organization.
"May No Soldier Go Unloved" encapsulates the motivation behind Soldiers' Angels. The volunteers of Soldiers' Angels work tirelessly supporting our nation's veterans, wounded heroes, deployed service members and their families.
In 2017 alone, Soldiers’ Angels provided over $17 million in aid to over 360,000 service members, veterans, wounded heroes, and military families. Soldiers’ Angels volunteers are the heart of the organization and logged over 148,000 volunteer hours just in 2017!
