Be part of an enjoyable and meaningful learning experience! Make meaningful change in the Trenton community by working with adult language learners! You will be partnered with other volunteers and receive further training in language teaching and the program. Spanish and/or teaching skills are preferred for lower levels; however, for those that are not bilingual, your skills are highly valued for our students at higher levels of study. Textbooks and lesson plans are provided and there is minimal to no preparation outside of class time. Classes meet at one of the following times each week:
- Monday nights, 5:45-8:45
- Friday mornings, 9:00-12:00

Our mission is to defend and promote civil rights, facilitate access to health care and education for low-income Latin American immigrants, and promote cross-cultural understanding throughout Mercer County.
Description
LALDEF acts as a resource hub for the local immigrant community, helping dismantle the barriers that stand in the way to a more fair and just society, and supporting the incorporation of these immigrants to the social fabric. Our purpose is to support immigrants maintain their livelihoods, freedom and self sufficiency, facilitate their integration into their local communities, Consistent with our nation’s values and respect for human rights, we believe that helping immigrants obtain jobs, homes, and access to health care and education, and thus build better futures for themselves and their children, while continuing to strive, assimilate and be accepted into American society, will strengthen our nation. Ultimately, we serve the community at large by creating cross-cultural understanding between native and foreign-born, accepting and appreciating our differences, while recognizing our common humanity and mutual interest in contributing to a thriving, fair, diverse community.
