The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As teaching assistants, volunteers will be responsible for a variety of tasks in the classroom such as:
-. helping individual students on a one-to-one basis
- Helping students complete group tasks
- designing and creating educational materials
- helping keep children on task
-Assisting children with brushing their teeth
Requirements: A flexible approach to work; the ability to work as part of a team but also on your own initiative; positive outlook; enjoy working with children and have an appreciation of the pressures and demands within the academic work environment.
Level of Spanish: None necessary as a prerequisite for the English classrooms, but a working knowledge is a huge advantage. For the Spanish class rooms intermediate Spanish is requiered.
Continued support from the Volunteer Coordinator throughout the duration of the position
Assistance in organizing a homestay and transportation from the airport

Minimum Commitment: 1 week minimum
Hours: 7:45 - 2:30pm
Volunteer Fee: All international volunteers are asked for a one-time donation of $75 to cover the administrative costs of running the volunteer program.
