Company Description

Sprouts is a nonprofit that teaches kids from all socioeconomic backgrounds what REAL food is all about. We do this through hands-on cooking with REAL chefs from hotshot restaurants in San Francisco, New York and Paris! With the support of Jamie Oliver and the endorsement of Alice Waters on our advisory board, we fulfill our mission through 5 main programs:

- Free Classes at Girls Inc for in-need young girls

- After School Cooking Classes for Bay Area students from all backgrounds

- Classes and Camps on weekends and school breaks for diverse Bay Area youth

- Chef-in-training Internships for at-risk young adults that want to change their lives around through a culinary career

- Classes for children with special needs

We are educating and inspiring youth in the kitchen every day, thanks to the dedication of 16 full and part-time team members, 10 interns, 25+ volunteers, and 100+ local chefs.

Job Posting

Sprouts is looking for a tech-savy applicant that wants to build up their website maintenance experience. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable skills all the while contributing to our mission of getting kids from all backgrounds the opportunity to cook and eat healthy, balanced meals! This position can be performed remotely or at our office at Impact Hub in downtown Oakland.

Sample tasks include:
Using Sprouts event templates to create event flyers for our website
Posting eventbrite tabs to our website
Answering questions from our Facebook page
Updating Sprouts website postings
Improving the user interface and experience of our website
Uploading media, articles, and videos into Sprouts website
Analyzing Sprouts website traffic and developing strategy around user preferences and patterns
Creating mailchimp ads
Uploading profiles of our chef in training interns

Candidates do not need prior experience although it is recommended!

Work alongside Sprouts Founder, Programming Director, Execution Director, Americorps, Operations Director, Afterschool Director, UC Berkeley part-time office interns, afterschool teacher assistants, Accounting intern, bookkeeper, IT assistant, volunteer budget analyst

Location: The Impact Hub (2323 Broadway, Oakland right near 19th BART)
This position can be performed remotely.

Time Commitment: 7-9 hours a week

Time Span: 8 months long
