The Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis is thrilled to be bringing the extraordinary Lydia Cox Memorial Bike Camp to St. Louis again this year. This camp is made possible with the support of the Lydia Faith Cox Family Foundation and iCanShine. Our camp is much more than just a bike-riding program. For many children with Down syndrome, riding a bike is a seemingly impossible task, but with the iCanShine program, riders learn in just one week! Simply put, these camps make a world of difference to participants. To make the camp a success, we rely on over 70 generous, enthusiastic volunteers! We ask that volunteers commit to the same shift each of the 5 days of camp. Building a relationship with the rider throughout the week increases the rate of success. However, if you only have one day to volunteer or have a conflict one of the days of the week, we still welcome you to participate. You can also volunteer for as many sessions as you like throughout the day!

Mission Statement

The mission of the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis is to benefit the lives of people with Down syndrome and their families through individual and family support, education, public awareness and advocacy.

Description

What started out as a small group aiming to make a difference has turned in a large, far reaching organization with many of the same core values and goals.

Today the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis has a membership list of over 3,000 households including 1,800 individuals with Down syndrome. We have three core service areas: Awareness & Advocacy, Education and Family Support.

DSAGSL benefits the lives of people with Down syndrome and their families through a lifetime of support, education and advocacy. We envision a community where all people with Down syndrome can achieve their full potential. We are comprised of families, friends and professionals with this common interest. We know the joys and also understand the challenges of a child born with Down syndrome. We exist as an organization to encourage and support individuals with Down syndrome and their families on this journey.
