Fall GOTR 5k

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Girls on the Run 5K! As girls from across the Valley come together with public race participants to achieve their goals on 5K day, they will be depending on volunteers like you to help them shine.

By participating in the Girls on the Run 5K you will help empower girls. 100% of the race proceeds go directly to Girls on the Run serving Maricopa and Pinal Counties whose mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

Now recruiting: event volunteers, cheer zones and sparkle runners !

Event Volunteer Duties Include: Set up, take down, work registration, distribute giveaways, work water station, work the fun zone, give directions on course and distribute drinks and snacks. All volunteers will receive a T-shirt and snacks.

Schedule:
Event Day Shift on 4/30: 5:45 - 10:30 a.m. (could be finished earlier)
Event Clean Up Shift on 4/25: 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. (could be finished earlier)

Teams: Gather fellow students, friends, colleagues etc. to form a volunteer team! If you are interested in forming a team, your team captain must click on "I’d like to create a team button" during registration. Once the team is created it will show in a drop down box at the top of all registration forms for other team members to select. If you are participating with a team be sure to select your team name during the registration process.

Cheer Zones: We are also looking for groups to serve as cheer stations along the course. Gather 5 or more people from your family, company, community organization, group of friends, sports/cheer team, and help to provide the one-of-a-kind positive energy, excitement and celebration that makes the Girls on the Run 5K so special. Some suggestions: create a theme for the station, dress up, play music, use noisemakers, make signs etc. Our goal is to hopefully fill the course with positive energy and encouragement for all participants and for them - and you all! - to be inspired and have a lot of fun in the process. We ask that before you sign up to reserve a zone that you please confirm that you have at least 5 people available to be in your assigned position on the course from 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. Once you have confirmed this, please email Meagan at meagan@gotrmc.org to register.

Mission Statement

We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

Description

Girls on the Run is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Meeting twice a week in small teams, we teach girls in 3rd - 8th grades life skills through dynamic, conversation-based lessons and running games. The 20-lesson curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large.

Running is used to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment. At each season's conclusion, the girls and their running buddies, complete a 5k running event. Completing a 5k gives the girls a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. The result--making the seemingly impossible, possible and teaching girls that they can.
