Mission Statement

The mission of Friends of Ostomates Worldwide-USA (FOW-USA), a volunteer-run, non-profit organization, is to provide ostomy supplies and educational resources at no cost to ostomates outside the United States.

Description

FOW-USA is a volunteer group who collect and distributes ostomy supplies to people outside of the USA who have no access to ostomy supplies. An ostomy is a surgical procedure that creates an opening in the abdomen that is covered by a bag that drains stool or urine.

There are people in many countries around the world who have undergone this surgical procedure that have no access to the necessary supplies. Without the supplies, the person may be have weakened health,social isolation, and a poor quality of life. This surgery can effect people at any stage of life, from newborn to the elderly.

FOW-USA collects donations of ostomy supplies, then sorts and stores them in our warehouse. As we receive requests for supplies, the volunteers pack large pallets of supplies to ship to those in need outside the United States to 102 countries. We collect the supplies from people in the United States who no longer need the supplies or have excess. We solicit funds to cover our shipping costs from individuals, medical groups, as well as foundations.

The all volunteer status of our organization makes you a Very Important Person to us! We are open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at our warehouse on Bishop Lane. We could use your help any day for any amount of time. Please consider helping FOW-USA.
