Senior MYSQL Database Administrator (Seattle)

We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator with 5+ years of MySQL DBA experience to help us manage our database operations.

Location

Depending on the volunteering opportunity, some or all of the volunteering may be done remotely with communication via email and phone rather than in-person.

General Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain new MySQL database code
  • Ensure optimal performance of all scripts on Microsoft Azure
  • Design, develop, manage, and maintain all databases that supports development, testing and operations
  • Perform database administration tasks including maintenance, upgrades, user management, monitoring, audit and performance tuning
  • Perform and improve data replication and purging operations
  • Support software development with database operations including complex query optimization, storage optimization, database architecture/design guidance and integration for all relational databases, used by different 24/7 systems to store both customer and company provided data
  • Work with various teams to control and execute day-to-day database operations
  • Develop strategies and implement solutions for database continuous testing, integration and delivery

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 5+ years of MySQL DBA experience supporting production, development and testing environments
  • Proficiency with scripting language and experience with python programming is a plus
  • Hands-on experience with MySQL database clustering, performance tuning, monitoring, and data replication
  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, data purging, recovery, security, integrity and SQL
  • Experience with applications database design support and SQL optimization
  • Familiarity and hands-on experience with at least one column-based database
  • Experience with database automated continuous testing, integration and delivery is a plus
  • Innovative approach to work, constantly looking for upgrading the system to more efficient and effective new technologies and processes
  • Excellent communication, documentation and troubleshooting skills
