Join our team of dedicated teachers providing music education in elementary school classrooms throughout the SF Bay Area!

Music for Minors (MFM) seeks inspiring individuals who are excited to share their love of music with students.

Volunteers serve as Teacher's Aids assisting the primary music teacher with weekly lessons. Music classes are once a week for thirty minutes.

Paid instructors lead classes throughout the school day, 2-5 days per week utilizing MFM's standards based curriculum that incorporates singing, movement and instruments.

We offer ongoing professional development for all our teachers and volunteers in addition to mentors, music resources and the opportunity to join a community of passionate, talented music lovers.

Required qualifications include bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge and experience in music performance or education preferred. Teaching credential not required.

Description

Music for Minors (MFM) is a nonprofit organization located in San Carlos, California. Founded in 1976, MFM is devoted to keeping music alive in local schools. We provide sequential, standards-based music education programs for children in transitional kindergarten through fifth grade throughout San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.

Our classes provide children with a variety of musical experiences through hands-on participation in many facets of music, such as singing, movement, theory, dance, musical games, and use of rhythm instruments.

OUR GOALS ARE TO:
  • Develop music sensitivity and literacy in children.
  • Enhance children’s enjoyment and appreciation of music.
  • Enable children to have their first music education experience.
  • Help schools fulfill state-mandated music education requirements.
