Brandt Academy offers young STEM pioneers the opportunity to learn cutting-edge technology engineering from industry professionals. We're a volunteer-driven nonprofit, and depend on the generous time donations of people like you to achieve our mission.
We're seeking web developers to help us build and maintain our primary website. Bonus if you’re interested in developing curriculum and student projects for the next generation of web developers.
The ideal volunteer will be comfortable with (or eager to learn):
Hand-coding sites using HTML5, SASS, Bootstrap, and web fonts
Static site generation with Hugo, Node.js, Gulp, and Webpack
Test-driven development of JavaScript (ES6)
Development with WebStorm and Git (Git LFS, GitLab)
Deployment and hosting on AWS (S3, CloudFront, Route 53)
Responsive site design and implementation
Performance optimization
SEO
Both local and remote candidates are welcomed. This position can be done entirely remotely. The time commitment is flexible based on your availability.
Portfolio samples of websites or code that you’ve worked on are optional, but greatly appreciated.
With your help we hope to build out a world-class site, to better connect with our students, parents, volunteers and donors. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with other volunteers possessing expertise in web design, graphic design, cloud hosting, growth marketing, branding, and copywriting.

Description
Brandt Academy is a nonprofit, extracurricular, STEM academy (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) for students in grades 6-12. Classes are taught year-round by volunteer professional engineers. A target student-teacher ratio of 4:1 or better facilitates highly individualized instruction, enabling students to learn at their best pace.
