Do you like to perform and enjoy entertaining kids? Are you ready to have some fun? If you answered YES we have a great opportunity for you. We are looking for several volunteers who will become OTTERBY the Library's loveable mascot.

Otterby is a big hit at Library outreach events as he interacts with children. We have lots of events scheduled for the spring and summer including the Sacramento State Fair. Events may occur during the week, on Saturday or Sunday, and some evenings.

Once in costume you will use animated movement to bring Otterby to life! Before committing to becoming our mascot you’ll have an opportunity to try on the costume and experience being Otterby.

We would like to have several volunteers to ensure that Otterby is at all the events. You will receive at least a 3 to 4 week notice of the event you’re assigned to.

Please consider the following requirements before submitting an application:

  • Height requirement must be between 5’5" and 5’7"
