Calvary Women’s Services offers housing, health, employment and education programs that empower homeless women in Washington, DC to change their lives. Our programs carry out our mission to offer "a safe, caring place for tonight; support, hope and change for tomorrow." Step Up DC, Calvary’s job placement program, connects eligible candidates in Calvary’s transitional and permanent housing programs to employers in the community, empowering women to take the first steps in their journey towards financial independence and permanent housing. The Step Up DC Employment Task Force allows 2-3 volunteers to research entry level employment opportunities in the DMV by searching job sites, calling recruiting firms, and paying attention to hiring opportunities in their neighborhoods. Step Up DC Employment Task Force members are expected to make a strong and ongoing commitment to volunteer for four hours each week for six months.
Members of the Employment Task Force should be patient and respectful people. They should have enough computer experience to research a wide variety of employment opportunities and a professional demeanor fit for reaching out to hiring managers on behalf of Calvary Women’s Services.
