Resume Editor for Bridges to College students

ORGANIZATION: JVS, Jewish Vocational Service

Assist the career coach of JVS's Bridges to College program with editing resumes for students who are graduating and are applying for jobs. Make corrections to spelling and grammar, write additional information suggested by career coach and format the layout to create a polished, professional resume. Resume template is provided.

Each resume takes approximately 1 hour to complete and this position is estimated to take approximately 10 hours per week. Most of the work can be done remotely, though training and check-ins with the career coach will be needed occasionally on Mondays or Tuesdays at JVS's office, 75 Federal St. in downtown Boston or via Skype.

Requirements:

  • English fluency
  • Strong writing skills
  • Formatting/graphic design skills
  • Familiarity with resumes/CVs
  • Ability to volunteer 10 hours per week
  • Ability to work independently
  • Quick learner
  • Strong Microsoft Word skills

Program/Department Overview:

The Bridges to College program at JVS is a 23-week college preparation program. The program is structured to help students improve their English, math and skills such as time management, critical thinking, and study skills. Our Bridges to College program is designed to ensure that students bypass developmental non-credit bearing courses and enter college at the college credit level classes. Bridges to College is a unique program that will also continue to work with program graduates throughout their college career and offers FREE job search assistance during the final semester of college.
