As a volunteer with JA Finance Park, you will help high school students navigate the world of personal finances as they assume the role of an "adult for the day." Students are given a unique life situation which includes an income, marital status, and even kids! Using this persona, students work to create a balanced monthly budget while making shopping decisions. There will be a training at the start of the day to prepare you for guiding students through the simulation.

Mission Statement

To inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. JA programs offer a wide variety of people the opportunity to apply their expertise to the educational needs of our communities' students from kindergarten through the 12th grade in an effective and fun way.

Description

Volunteers are the core of Junior Achievement's impact in the classroom. Trained volunteers visit classrooms for about 45 minutes once a week for 5 to 8 sessions, depending on the grade level. The volunteer uses his or her own experience in conjunction with the JA curriculum to teach about business principles, decision-making and critical thinking skills. Junior Achievement provides all materials, training, and volunteer support. Visit www.jadallas.org to sign up today!

Our approach is simple yet highly effective. JA facilitates a powerful partnership between business and education: JA develops the innovative K-12 programs; schools provide the access; the business community provides the financial support and volunteers to deliver the hands-on curriculum to students.
