Willamette Valley Volunteer Orientation
ORGANIZATION: Northwest Association for Blind Athletes
Please visit the new page to apply.
The Northwest Association for Blind Athletes will be hosting our very first volunteer orientation in the Willamette Valley! This event is open to anyone who want to help individuals who are blind or visually impaired become more physically active in their community. This is a great opportunity for the individual hoping to start volunteering, do more when volunteering, and feel more comfortable when working with this community.
During the training we will be going over two of the more popular sports of ours. The first is tandem biking. We will go through the most effective ways to ride, guide, and instruct the athlete you would be paired with during an event. The second activity we will be doing is hiking. We will got through the proper techniques for assisting an athlete on a hike, and guiding them through terrian.
The event will be held at the Mount Pisgah Arboretum.

Description
The Northwest Association for Blind Athletes [NWABA] enriches lives and provides opportunities for children, youth, adults and veterans who are visually impaired. When individuals with visual impairments experience sports and recreation they have more self-confidence and open up to the possibility that they really can pursue their dreams in both sports and life. Our athletes leave behind sedentary isolated lives and they gain skills, confidence and joy.
