ORGANIZATION: Impact NW

Have a passion for zines? Lead a class at Beaver Acres Elementary!

Teach one after school class of 15 students, once a week for a ten week session. Class will focus on a variety of creative forms of expressions, such as poems/comics/songs/art/creative writing/anything else that might go in a zine!

Responsibilities: Arrive on time each day, ready and excited to work with a diverse group of students in a variety of mediums, and encourage their creativity and learning in a safe environment, as a lead instructor. Other responsibilities include tasks such as taking attendance, ensuring class activities are safe, walking students to and from class, and ensuring the classroom is left neat and clean.

Qualifications: Experience working with diverse groups of people (youth in a classroom setting in particular), experience working with a variety of creative forms of expression or making zines, and the ability to speak another language other than English all preferred but not required.

Benefits of Position to Volunteer: Experience leading a class and working with youth in a classroom setting and volunteer experience for a non-profit

Training/Resources Provided: Prior to your first class, we will provide basic training about how SHINE runs and some classroom management strategies. We also provide resources and materials.

Commitment/Duration: About 2 hours, once a week, for a ten week session
