We are looking for people who would like to cultivate and maintain a plot in our community vegetable garden. Some gardening experience would be helpful, but not absolutely necessary. The plots will be ready for planting by the end of May and should be maintained on a weekly basis until the food is harvested. Preference given to volunteers who are willing to donate a portion of their produce to a soup kitchen or food pantry in the local area.

Description
Established in 1985, Mercy Haven, Inc., is a non-sectarian not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation. We envision communities where diversity and inclusion are valued, and individuals reach their full potential. We are committed to be a place where experience and creative solutions come together to open the door of possibility for those most in need. For over 39 years, Mercy Haven has grown to be a multifaceted community resource. We have brought services to both Nassau and Suffolk Counties and are committed members of the communities we serve. From a humble beginning in Bay Shore as a provider of housing for persons living with mental illness, our housing programs now include the elderly, veterans, persons with disabilities, homeless families and children and low-income families. Mercy Haven owns and rents a total of 65 sites, representing 119 units of housing for over 400 participants across Long Island, New York.
Some of our support programs include free legal advocacy, education and employment skills training, peer support groups, supported employment, youth & family services, community outreach, staff on-call 24/7, and a sophisticated property management department.
Mercy Haven, Inc. is committed to responsible and transparent stewardship of the funds we receive from our donors, both public and private. For a copy of our most recent annual report, please contact our Development Office at 631-277-8300.
